1. Stick to a schedule

Having a schedule ensures that you’re using your time as efficiently as possible. Your schedule should outline your study times, work schedule, gym classes or any functions or events you have to remember. Having a visual aid like a daily checklist or a wall calendar can help you keep track of all your tasks and stay calm and in control.

2. Avoid distractions

With social media and the internet at our constant disposal, it’s very hard to concentrate on just studying. Try finding a quiet spot away from people and leave your phone in another room. If you’re too distracted by Facebook or YouTube on your computer, try studying with a notepad and pen instead. This will help you maximize your productivity and you may find you get your work done a lot quicker.

3. Take time for yourself

The key to good work life balancing is making time for things you enjoy as well as the things you’re required to do. Reading a few chapters of a book or watching your favourite show on Netflix can actually be very beneficial for your well-being and can make you more productive and focused in other areas of your life. Just make sure you don’t end up binge watching the entire show!

4. Be wary of multi-tasking

Ever heard of the phrase ‘biting off more than you can chew? While you may think that scheduling your yoga class and your conference call at the same time will save valuable minutes in the day, studies have found that juggling multiple tasks increases your margin of error by 60% and makes you more susceptible to being overwhelmed and losing control. By focusing all your energy on one task, you have a better chance of getting it right the first time, and save time in the long run by not having to fix your own mistakes.

5. Take care of your health

Your physical health has a direct and profound effect on your mental health. By getting at least 8 hours of sleep a night you can increase focus, brain function and even improve mood! In addition to this, incorporating 30 minutes of exercise into your daily routine can reduce stress, increase energy and boost serotonin levels (making you happier!) AND by cutting back on foods that your body doesn’t like and increasing your protein and vegetable intake, you can have your body and your mind running at peak condition!
