Australis College Staff Get Behind CEO Sleep Out Strategy

The Managing Director and staff of Australis College are set to embark on a series of dares and challenges to raise money for the CEO Sleep Out on 23 June 2016.

It is the first time Andrew Hetherington has participated in the CEO Sleep Out and he is determined to raise critical funds for St Vincent de Paul Society, which is part of our special Community Involvement campaign.

There are over 105,000 people experiencing homelessness in Australia and 44% of these are women, many accompanied by young children. In addition around 60% are under the age of 35 with more than 17,000 Australian children under the age of 12 with no home, representing 17% of the overall homeless population.

Donations to the CEO Sleep Out will provide immediate and emergency assistance as well as pathways to a brighter future of people experiencing homelessness.

Australis College Managing Director Andrew Hetherington said, “I am proud to get behind the CEO Sleep Out, the money raised through the campaign goes straight to providing front line services and makes an immediate impact on so many lives.”

In a bid to bolster his fundraising efforts Mr Hetherington and his staff are undertaking a series of dares as well as a bake off.

“I thought, if I can encourage people to jump online and make a donation simply by participating in a few dares and challenges, it can only mean more funds for Vinnies – which is a great thing,” Mr Hetherington said.

“The staff at Australis College have already embraced the opportunity to take me out of my comfort zone. The marketing team has dared me to dance to Moves Like Jagger for $50, so with every dare like this I will be able to bolster my fundraising and make a bigger difference,” Mr Hetherington said.

Australis College Marketing Manager Gordon Watson said, “The Marketing Team has offered to sing ‘I will always love you’ karaoke style for the right amount, however, we are more likely to raise even more money to be kept quiet or to stop singing!”

The dares will also be followed up with a Bake Off where staff will be encouraged to share some home cooking and for a small donation.
