Patricia Arora Wins Queensland Training AwardPosted on
Congratulations to Patricia Arora, one of Australis College’s Community Service students, who has recently won ‘Vocational Student of the Year‘ at the 2018 Queensland Training Awards – Metropolitan Region.
Having won the ‘Metropolitan Region’ award means that Patrica is now a State Finalist in the Queensland Training Awards. The State winner will be announced at a special Gala Dinner to be held on the 8th of September 2018.
Patricia was a highly committed and extremely hard-working student, completing her CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services in January of this year after 18 months of dedicated study.
To obtain her Community Services Diploma, Patricia needed to undertake practical placement, which she did at the Tamborine Mountain Community Care Association (TMCCA).
She did such great work during her placement that TMCCA offered her a permanent position, where Patricia now works as a Volunteer Coordinator.
In a recent article published by the Beaudesert Times, Patricia explained how much she loves her role at TMCCA.
“I love working with people who believe there’s something beyond themselves,” she said.
“Being pro-active within communities, reaching out to someone who needs help – helping seniors and people in vulnerable situations is a great thing.”
“It’s extremely fulfilling and humbling at the same time to be able to make an impact on these people’s lives.”
It speaks volumes about the special type of person that Patricia is when she said that what most excited her about winning the award was the example that it set for her daughters Ahalyaa, 14, and Anoushka, 12.
Patricia said, “That’s the most important thing for me,”.
“I believe in leading by example rather than through giving instructions”
“They are more likely to remember what they see me do.”
We all wish Patricia the very best of luck in the upcoming final, however whatever the result, Patricia should be extremely proud of her achievements. Not only for winning the regional award, but also for the 18 months of hard work she put into completing her CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services and obtaining a permanent role with TMCCA…she’s definitely living up to her desire to be a great role model for her daughters!
